I am honored to be a part of this Team and will be running this race in the spirit of one of my very best friends, Uche Anyanwu. May he rest in peace.
About my friend Uche: I met "Uche male" while studying at UMASS Amherst through his then girlfriend "Uche female." I laughed when I learned they had the same first name and was intrigued at the idea of them becoming the same person on paper when they would marry: Uche Anyanwu! Their wedding was one of the happiest days of my life because I knew they had both found true love. My friend Uche was always a mild-tempered yet a very passionate guy, focusing on the truly important things in life to the end. He was a bit of an egghead, receiving his PhD in Organic Chemistry and moving on to work for a industry leading chemical company in Westchester, NY. We were roommates after school and in that time I learned how great of friends two people could actually become. Uche fought incredibly over the past 6+ years. I miss him dearly.
About Team Stupid Cancer: we are tasked with raising awareness and donations for the "I’m too young for this!” Cancer Foundation (www.stupidcancer.com). The Foundation provides support for young adults who are fighting cancer by bringing people together through educational forums across the globe.
