STUFF ABOUT ME:
Hello! I have been looking for the past six years for ways to do something big or small that means a great deal to others who need.I came across this beautiful or should i say GREAT community and thus became a part of it. I am trying to do my bit and have started by supporting the Masaai truck campaign.(though it was meant to be anonymous:-))
About six years ago i happened to visit a school for ortistic and specially beautiful kids in Calcutta,India.The first feeling i had was of disbelief at how many kids were there in those small rooms and what efforts the faculty of the school were putting in bringing these kids into those rooms.Why i felt this you will get to know when you read further.
The rooms filled with so many beautiful kids who are like us. We call them special beacuse they are trying to do what we dont even notice, can do.Among them there is a small ratio of kids that come from good families and parents support them and a bigger ratio of kids whose families the school has to pay as less as 1 cent a day to send their kids to school.Believe you me some of the parents are not even happy that their kids are coming to school. But they are doing it for the money.The school thus needs funds to keep these kids and the work they are doing alive.
I tried raising money various ways with my friends but ended up paying meagre sums from our pockets. it so happened because the so called celebs and people with platforms we reached out to wanted fee from us in return of the "charity" work they would do.So you can see nothing really happened back then.And since then i took an oath and was waiting till i could come across a community that didnt define fundraising just with the high profile word "charity" but meant more than that.
My hunt has come to an end when i found this fun and energetic community.I hope and believe that though I am in India i can raise money for my organisation and the other organisations that this community supports.
