EVENT: UCR Dance Marathon 2012

THE STORY:
The UCR Dance marathon is a 6 hour event for Highlanders, by Highlanders, to raise money and awareness for the Guardian Scholars Program. The Guardian Scholars Program provides scholarships, life coaching, mentors, housing, and personalized attention to emancipated foster youth. All proceeds will go directly to help students at UC Riverside.
Organized entirely by students, Dance Marathon (DM2012) is a brand new initiative. It is a six-hour celebration that brings UC Riverside students, staff, faculty, and entertainers together in order to raise money for an amazing cause. The event will include DJs, food, giveaways, and competitions that will inspire students to stand up for education and support former foster youth. Proceeds raised from DM2012 will go directly to students at UC Riverside, helping to better the lives of members of our own community.
The goal of DM2012 is to encourage philanthropy as well as raise awareness of the Guardian Scholars Program on the UC Riverside campus, while engaging students in a fun, positive experience. Through participation in DM2012, we are encouraging the campus community to step up and make a difference.
