THE STORY:

I am running the New York Marathon on 7 November. This will be my second and last marathon.
There will be three other runners from the ULI – Patrick Phillips (Chief Executive), Mary Beth Corrigan (Program Senior Vice President) and Steve Adams (Vice President, Information Technology).
I am running it to raise money for the Urban Land Institute Foundation. I have the honour of being the Chairman of this great organisation for 2 years. It seemed the least I could do is to run a race and ask my friends to support me.
The ULIF supports many programmes associated with the ULI and its work around education, community and the built environment. However, I want to raise funds for a specific initiative of the ULI, the Leadership Forum, and to restrict the money to benefit young people through internships and education. I am quite clear that this is not about providing immediate help to the most disadvantaged in society but it is about the future and recognition that we all rely on the next generation of leaders. I appeal to you either to support me as mad, as a friend or for my cause.
I hope to raise at least $125,000 in total.
As an added incentive to you to support me with your generosity, I will match the sponsorship I attract at 1:10 and donate the resultant amount equally between the four charities and charitable institutions which I work with - Landaid (www.landaid.org), the Arnold Foundation for Rugby School (www.thearnoldfoundation.net), Imperial College (www3.imperial.ac.uk) and Cambridge University (www.cam.ac.uk). These are all UK based but the latter two are world class international universities.
Thank you for your support.
