Thank you for visiting my Team Women's Lunch Place page. When I discovered that I'd qualified for the 2013 Boston Marathon, I was very excited...but also a little worried that my middle-aged ankles and feet wouldn't hold out that long! So I decided to try and run in 2012 by raising money for a charity. And it worked out beautifully: I couldn't think of a better cause to run for - as many of you know, I have a long-standing interest in women's issues. I hope you will read on to learn more about how WLP serves the fundamental needs of poor and homeless women, and does so in an environment of support and respect. I also hope you will support me in my fundraising efforts. Donations of all sizes are welcome and appreciated - I am looking for your moral support as much as your financial support. That said, very large donations will not be turned aside ;-)

Since 1982, Women’s Lunch Place has been dedicated to providing women and their children who are poor and homeless in the Greater Boston area with a safe, comfortable daytime shelter, nutritious food, and services. We treat every individual who enters our shelter with dignity and respect in every interaction they have with us. The Women’s Lunch Place strives to foster a community committed to meeting each woman’s needs. Many of our Guests are homeless; they don’t know if they will be able to secure a bed for the night at a shelter, but they do know that we are here six days a week with a lot of caring staff to help them navigate the maze of problems which poverty brings. Monday through Saturday, we provide breakfast, and we serve lunch. Along with our Advocacy Program, where our Guests can schedule a one-on-one meeting, many of our guests utilize our Resource Center, laundry and shower facilities, nap room, and medical care. Others participate in the Creative Expressions Program, where our guests can use art as therapy.
