Dad Needs a Little Help
Organized by: Robert Paulson
My father needs temporary help. He has been plagued with neck problems (bulging disks in cervical spine) for around 8 years. It has progressed to the point to where he cannot perform his critical job duties (he is a Registered Respiratory Therapist and cannot perform airway management or Advance Cardiac Life Support for his patients which he has done for 40+ years). Walking and being on his feet comprises at least 90% of his daily routine at work which has become impossible to do. Simply typing documentation into the computer has become painful. He has been place on Family Medical Leave of Absence (FMLA) which will protect his job for 12 weeks; he has 10 weeks left. The problem is that he has exhausted his Paid Time Off and Sick Leave leaving him without income at this time and he has nearly exhausted his savings from mounting medical bills. Despite having insurance there are co-pays and uncovered expenses. My father needs help with rent, food, car payment until he is done with his treatment and probable surgery. Short term disability will take a while to start. My father hopes to return to the work force within the next 3 to 4 months and just needs assistance until then.
