Fund Civil rights Attorney; was refused mental health care!
Organized by: Amanda DeMand
How many of you have a family member who has mental health issues? Here's one for you! Rob, a 34 year old white male, lives in The Plains, OH and has been diagnosed as bi-polar. He suffers with bouts of depression and has a hard time holding a job. Yesterday he was having an extremely severe attack and, on the advice of the Crisis Hotline, he had his fiance take him to the emergency room to be admitted to the psych ward for help. While his fiance was trying to get him admitted, he continued to rant, which frightened the admitting nurse. Instead of calling her supervisor or one of the doctors, she called the police and had Rob arrested. She claimed that she felt threatened, though Rob's rants said nothing to or about her personally. The police came in, guns drawn and took him to jail. He was denied any health care! Caring friends loaned his fiance the money to bond him out of jail and advised that he hire a lawyer and sue the hospital for refusing health care. Where can a person go for health care if not to our hospitals?? Do we not have any rights? Please help with attorney fees!
