EVENT DATE: Jul 16, 2016
Erika’s Lighthouse is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating and raising awareness about adolescent depression, encouraging good mental health and breaking down the stigma surrounding mental health issues. Somewhere between 15%-20% of children will suffer from a depressive episode before they reach adulthood, and 90-98% of youth who take their life have a diagnosable mental disorder, the most common being depression. Although depression is quite common and can be serious, nearly 80% of young people go undiagnosed and untreated due to cultural stigma. The goal of Erika's Lighthouse is to help communities develop a culture that allows people to talk openly about mental health so we can overcome stigma and encourage early identification and treatment of depression - protecting young lives. We meet our goals through our free educational programming and materials targeted at six constituencies: teens, young adults, parents, schools, health professionals and community organizations.
Support Team Erika's Lighthouse! Race days are July 16 (5K) and July 17 (10K and 1/2 Marathon) for the 2016 Rock 'n' Roll Chicago Races!
