BENEFITING: Direct Relief
EVENT DATE: Sep 24, 2016
On Saturday, September 24th, 2016, I will be walking 100,000 steps (approximately 50 miles) in support of Direct Relief, a humanitarian aid organization dedicated to helping the impoverished, preventing and treating disease and providing emergency preparedness for vulnerable populations on a global scale.
In an age where environmental disasters are on the rise (and increasing in severity), organizations like Direct Relief are critically important, not just for their immediate response to the disaster, but in their efforts to prepare those communities at risk before and long after the disaster occurs.
For more information, check out their website: https://www.directrelief.org/
The walk I will be doing is a loop, beginning and ending in Greenpoint, Brooklyn and will involve trekking into Manhattan via the Queensboro Bridge, walking the perimeter of the island, then heading downtown to the Brooklyn Bridge. Once in Brooklyn, I will return to Greenpoint.
If you are interested in joining me for all or a portion of the walk, please do! Regardless, please consider donating to Direct Relief. My goal is to raise $2000 by September 24th.
