100 MILE BORDER WALK FOR OUR CHILDREN AND OUR DIGNITY
"Border Residents Walk Against Border Militarization and for Border Enforcement Accountability"
August 21, 2014 - August 24, 2014
Southern New Mexico-West Texas
El Paso, TX /Southern New Mexico.- Border residents and members of the Border Network for Human Rights (BNHR) will walk one hundred miles (100 miles) from Southern New Mexico to West Texas, and through a number of events and actions, reject border militarization, the deployment of the National Guard in our communities, the offensive of Texas Governor Rick Perry against children, and call for border enforcement accountability.
Additionally, border walkers will urge the Obama Administration to keep families united through an ample Deferred Action program for the 11 million undocumented Americans already living in the United States.
There will be 21 Border Walkers who will walk the entire 100 miles starting in Las Cruces, NM and ending in Far East El Paso, TX.
11 of the people that will walk, will represent the 11 million undocumented migrants in need of a comprehensive immigration reform.
5 will represent the 500 migrants that die every year crossing the border in search of a better life and/or to be reunited with their family, and
5 will represent the 50,000 kids that are and have gone thru detention at the border escaping violence.
1. - Can you help us by sponsoring one or more "border walker" for $100 each?
