The Story

FUNDRAISER SET UP DEADLINE: Oct 11, 2015

***SPECIAL UPDATE*** WED, SEPT 23, 5:30PM

The participants of 100 Women, 100 Miles need your support tonight!

Thanks to the championship of Rep. Roybal-Allard and Sen. Warner, a delegation from the #100Women100Miles pilgrimage has a special opportunity to see the Pope tomorrow during his address to the joint session of Congress.

As you can imagine, this means that this tireless group of women will be changing their flights and travel itineraries to stay an extra day in the capitol! To make it to see the Pope, we MUST reach our fundraising goal of $10,000!

Please consider a donation right now to get us to our $10,000 goal tomorrow, before the women go to the see the Pope.

Every donation, no matter how small, is a tremendous act of solidarity for the leadership of immigrant women. For the past 8 days, these women have walked to uplift a message of dignity for all. Through their courage, we are expanding our consciousness of compassion, migration, and care.

Give tonight to help the women's delegation see the Pope tomorrow!

Also, please help us spread the word through social media, email, and by calling your friends and family to support. We need everyone to know about this opportunity, your support in sharing the story is crucial.

We are especially grateful to the following representatives who have provided the ticket-only spots to the women's delegation: Rep. Lucille Roybal-Allard, Sen. Mark Warner, Rep. Handle, Sen. Handle, Rep. Zoe Lofgren, Rep. Raul Grijalva, and Rep. Judy Chu.

***

This September 15 - 23, one hundred women will walk on a 100-mile pilgrimage from a detention center in York County, Pennsylvania to Washington, DC. Set to arrive when the Pope will be speaking in Congress and meeting with the President, we will walk carrying stories from a site of human suffering to the Pope with a message of human dignity.

Pope Francis has said that the globalization of migration requires a globalization of charity and cooperation. He describes a world where no one is seen as useless, out of place or disposable, a church without border, and nations that welcome the stranger.

When he comes to Washington, we will be there to greet him with the hope that each step we take is another step closer to a world of dignity for migrants.

Your support today can provide much needed funds for travel, lodging, and supplies so that immigrant women and low-income domestic workers and organizers can participate in this incredible once-in-a-lifetime experience. Make a gift today as we build a grassroots pilgrimage to ask the Pope to uplift a message of dignity for immigrant women and families.

We Belong Together is committed to raising funds to ensure the full coverage of costs for the 100 women to join us on this incredible once-in-a-lifetime experience.
