I will be taking up the http://www.twilightultrachallenge.com/ in Singapore on 11th March, running 10K right through the night in the park. It´s my first bit of big running since getting pregnant & having the baby so a bit of a challenge for me. But the cause is worth it. I´m raising money for Alex Wood, son of a friend of mum´s - ***Please give generously my goal is to raise at least $1,000 SING that's $100 SGD / about 50quid GBP for every kilometre I run**** Below is some info from Alex´s fundraising site http://makingwavesforalex.co.uk/
"Alex is a remarkable 32-yr-old father-of-four, with a passion for all things surf. Following a tragic head injury on 4 October 2011, Alex was hospitalised and suffered a major brain bleed. Two life-saving brain operations were a success, but many weeks in a coma continued to cause much heartache and concern for family and friends. Alex's parents, Anne and Pete, have relocated to France to be near to Alex and to provide much-needed support for their grandchildren and daughter-in-law, Tamsyn. Through the power of positivity, love and – many agree – prayer, Alex is battling hard to defy doctors' initial devastating prognoses and making very encouraging progress.
Thirteen weeks on, and, after awaking from his coma at week ten, Alex's unaided breathing became strong enough to be moved to a neuro re-education centre in St-Jean-de-Luz on 22 December 2011. Continuing to demonstrate his determination, and encouraged by continued love and positivity, he is fully lucid, can now blink, smile, laugh and cry (noiselessly), and bend his arms and legs a little. There are still myriad problems, including blindness, and he has to re-learn everything, but with time and support, Alex will win his battle.
So, if you want to support Alex, then buckle-up and join family and friends on what will be the ride of Alex's life"
