BENEFITING: FOUNDATION OF ORTHOPEDICS AND COMPLEX SPINE INC
EVENT DATE: Sep 29, 2013
This summer I had the honor of providing care for kids from all over Africa as they had spinal correction surgeries for life threatening deformities. Not only did their lives improve, but mine did as well. I will never be able to repay the people of Ghana and the kids I helped treat for the kindness, love, and optimism they shared.
The FOCOS hospital is a non-profit organization that specalizes in orthopedics and complex spine. It is located in Accra, Ghana, and is one of a kind. Founded by Dr. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei in 1998, the hospital has already treated over 1000 patients. For more information on this incredible organization, visit their website at www.orthofocos.org
I have been challenged by a fellow volunteer to run a 10 mile race, and will do so by drawing on the determination of these kids that are so strong, as a way to give back to them. Help me support this incredible organization as they continue to straighten spines and change lives!
(This page shows my event is the NYC Marathon, which is incorrect. I will be running the NYRR 5 Borough Series Race: Thr Bronx 10 mile)
