I’m honored that in the final year of my residency at Floating Hospital for Children, I’m able to participate in Cuts for a Cause. As a lifelong Bruins fan, I’ve had my eye on this fundraiser since starting here three years ago. When I was asked if I’d be willing to participate, it was a no brainer.
As any one of my co-residents will tell you, the relationships with our hematology/oncology patients and their families are some of the strongest relationships we’ve made during our training. We are often there with them on the day of their diagnosis and do our best to support them through the grueling days of chemotherapy or a bone marrow transplant. I am constantly in awe of their strength and courage as well as their eagerness to support other patients and families in the same unimaginable situation.
The money raised at this event is crucial in supporting our Hematology/Oncology department and we see the benefit to our patients and families on a daily basis. I’ve learned more from these children than I can possibly repay and I am honored to be able to give back in a small way.
