BENEFITING: Daraja Education Fund
EVENT DATE: Nov 30, 2014
Hello from the Cape! I am currently three months into my four month-long communications internship at The Island School (http://www.islandschool.org/), a semester program for high school students that is located in Eleuthera, The Bahamas. On November 30, I will be running a half marathon with the students and faculty here. Inspired by Alice Ng's pact to climb 3,000 feet up El Capitan in Yosemite to raise money for the girls of Daraja, I decided to join this race. In 2012 I visited Daraja for the first time, and gladly found myself returning the following summer with Leigh Pomerantz to conduct a water audit on campus. Daraja is a special place for its students, its employees, its volunteers, and for the greater global community. Please join me in making an effort to give back to the place that has changed so many lives in so few years. Cheers to Daraja, and cheers to the 13 miles that lie ahead!
