1400 miles; Don't fear the Finger
Organized by: Carrie Eckermann.
I am a Massage Therapist in Austin, TX, raising funds to support the cyclists of the '1400 miles' ride. DontFeartheFinger and 1400Miles is about Prostate Health; Information, Awareness and Action. Everything we do is geared towards getting Stubborn Men to pay attention to their prostate health. As I work closely with the Men and Woman of the 1400miles I am learning more about the importance of awareness, the extent of action and how men really aren't too comfortable talking about the finger. "But, where does '1400 miles' come in?" You ask. Right, seems random, but the guy who started it all decided in 2013 to ride from Austin, TX to Denver, CO fueled by his passion to prove the conversation about prostate health. He rode 1400 miles, solo. Personally, I have no close relations to Prostate issues, but I have been chosen to join the group (16 riders this year). In my fundraising effort I have been to several events offering Massage for donation only where 100% of the donations goes to funding the event (food, stay, equipment, etc.) My attatchment sits at the fact that we aren't out to "battle" any cancer, not everyone has that experience. We are out to promote health, and everyone knows someone with a prostate.
