Come run with Team Frohlich!
Sunday, April 23, 2017 8:30am, 4 miles (1.5 mile walk starts at 9 am)
We are once again raising money for a great cause, in honor of our mom Geraldine Frohlich.
Lung cancer is the #1 cancer killer for women and men, more than breast cancer, prostate cancer, colorectal cancers and melanoma…combined! The TGL foundation commemorates Thomas Labreque who was among the 15% of lung cancer cases diagnosed in people who have never smoked.
We are running to honor Geri Frohlich, a non-smoker and avid runner who was into health food before organic was even a thing. She loved running and being with her family and friends and would have loved an event where family and friends could all run together, even the kids. She died from lung cancer in 1989 at the age of 41 but we will always remember her humor and wit and her love of bringing people together.
So come run with us, walk with us or donate to our team. Did we mention there is going to be a moon bounce and balloon animals at the after race party? And for you overacheivers, this is a NYRR qualifying race for the NYC Marathon.
The Thomas G. Labrecque Foundation is committed to preventing lung cancer through education and research. Now in its fourteenth year, the Run As One event in New York City has become an annual "rite of spring" for thousands of runners and has grown to become a favorite cause race among runners and walkers alike. As a qualifying event for the TCS New York City Marathon, the "Run As One" is much more than a cause race, attracting elite runners as well as recreational enthusiasts. Each year, our event has increased in size, with over 13,000 runners and walkers participating last year making it the world's largest 4-mile race!
