BENEFITING: INTERNATIONAL DOODLE OWNERS GROUP INC
EVENT DATE: May 27, 2014
A couple of months ago, I and three other spring chickens decided time was running out to do all those things we've been planning to do for years. We vowed that 2014 was going to be the year that we started to tick them off; the first one being walking the Coast to Coast across the north of England.
But when I arrived (late) to our first planning meeting, the other three had already decided we were going to cycle it - so much for joint planning.
Rather ambitiously, they said we would do the whole 150 miles across England's hilliest terrain in just three days at the end of May...gulp! Not wanting to be left out, I bought a bike last month - April - and set out on a few training runs (see above, I definitely need some matching socks before I attempt the real thing).
I have since discovered that biking makes your bum sore and the north of England is not at all flat. Undeterred, I shall be picking up a pebble from the Atlantic on May 27th and, with any luck, throwing it into the North Sea three days later - possibly along with my bike.
Over the last year, I wrote a book called The Labradoodle Handbook and learned about the wonderful work of IDOG Rescue. I am dedicating this bike ride to them. I hope you will support this excellent cause, which relies on its network of dedicated volunteers to save lives.
The International Doodle Owners Group, Inc. (IDOG) is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the protection of Labradoodles and Goldendoodles. Since setting up in 2006 it has rescued more than 1,500 doodles, many of whom would otherwise have been destroyed. It also provides education, resources and support to the owners and potential owners of Labradoodles and Goldendoodles to help them raise well-balanced, healthy dogs.
IDOG is based in the USA, I hope UK dog lovers will also donate. The donation amount is listed in dollars and will be deducted at the current exchange rate.
Thank you so much for your support.
