EVENT DATE: Jun 15, 2012
On 15th Street, in Northern Philadelphia, between Susquehanna and Diamond, across from Dr. Tanner G. Duckrey Public School, sits an empty lot. This lot has become a home to weeds of all varieties, a collection of shoes, a mattress and several types of debris. In spite of its unattractive, overgrown and blighted condition I fell in love at first sight, not with what it is, but the beauty concealed underneath.
I have organized a clean up of this lot for next Saturday, June, 15th. I have a plan to develop an amazing urban garden in the same space. I have the tools, I have the volunteers...what I'm looking for are the funds to provide a quality breakfast and lunch to the volunteers that do come and give their time...I am a chef after all, and feeding people is my passion.
WIth the theme of the garden I am wanting to get boxed lunch from Whole Foods, which include a sandwich, cookie, chips, and a salad. I want to offer fruit, muffins, pastries, eggs, and proteins for breakfast, as well as, water and/or Gatorade. This is crunch time and I know it's coming soon, I also know that if 100 people give $25 it will get done!
Thanks so much for your support!
