THE STORY:

Resonance Works wrote -

Our 16-17 Season just wrapped with a stellar production of Verdi's Falstaff, filled with lots of laughs, even more apples, and of course, incredible music from the whole Resonance Works family of musicians. This was our first collaboration with the University of Pittsburgh's Theater Arts department; an appropriate punctuation to a season marked by firsts. We began our year with our first ever performance acclaimed Baroque flutist, Stephen Schultz with music by Pittsburgh composer Nancy Galbraith, and followed it with our third performance of Amahl and the Night Visitors, with Rohan Puri making his first appearance as Amahl. In February, we presented the American Premiere of Scottish composer Sir James MacMillan's Gloria (with the composer in attendance!), and featured Pittsburgh Symphony trumpeter Neil Berntsen in MacMillan's Seraph. In March, we made our first foray into musical theater with Side by Side by Sondheim to great critical and audience acclaim. April brought our first collaboration with visual artist, entrepreneur and art advocate Baron Batch in Elements, finishing up with our witty and rollicking Falstaff. Looking ahead to our 17-18 Season, we have more firsts on the horizon that we're really excited to bring you. On the slate are Pittsburgh premieres by David Lang and Jake Heggie, the first-ever Pittsburgh production of Antonin Dvorak's fairy-tale opera Rusalka, and a continuing collaboration with the Pitt Theater Arts department. In addition we'll have new collaborations with Homewood Cemetery, Pittsburgh Symphony Principal Flutist Lorna McGhee and violinist Maureen Conlon-Gutierrez. We're growing behind the scenes too, as we prepare to hire our first paid staffer; a vital step in the long-term sustainability of Resonance Works. We need your help to make all of this possible. Ticket sales account for less than a third of our current budget, so your support is absolutely vital to Resonance Works. For as little as the cost of a few movie tickets, you can support high-quality, innovative, professional local arts and culture. This year, to make things fun, each donation will enter both you and the team member to whom you donate for a bunch of great prizes, including season tickets, individual tickets, gift certificates and more! As always, your donation is fully tax-deductible. Thank you for your support of Resonance Works' mission to bring poignant, timely performances featuring the world-class Resonance Works family of musicians.
