BENEFITING: Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation
EVENT DATE: May 16, 2011
So, as you may or may not know, I am moving on Monday, May 16th to Phoenix to begin my Advanced Standing Master's Program for Social Work as a graduate student at Arizona State University. Of course I have to involve the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in this endeavor.
People everywhere have made fundraisers out of pretty much everything. From walks, runs, bike runs, and skate-a-thons, there are so many events that have been utilized in order to raise awareness for various causes in many creative ways. Since my best friend, Kristina Grieco and I are treking across the country on your own, I feel this is a great opportunity to raise awareness and funds for the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in memory of my grandfather, Evel Knievel who passed away due to PF in 2007.
Since Kristina and I are both fragile 25 year old girls, we feel it is of great importance that people understand that we are putting our lives in jeopardy by driving through half of the United States alone. We will be facing many treacherous territories, fighting off goblins and serial killers, talking to strangers (and accepting gifts and candy), and perhaps even stumbling into a tumbleweed and scraping our ankles because we will be so exhausted from our travels. (not to mention the slight possibility of getting dust in our eyes while driving through the desert, which is not good because we both wear contacts.) My point is that we are both basically risking our lives (which kind of makes us daredevils), and you should donate to this cause because we want to meet our goal by the time we get to Phoenix! Thank you very much :)
