Kieran Arens wrote -In the past weeks, the ebola outbreak in western Africa has been growing at an alarming rate. Over 3,000 people have been infected, over 1,500 of which have died. Sadly, one of the largest reasons these numbers are so high and are growing so fast is that the countries affected by the disease simply do not have the basic medical equipment necessary to prevent the disease's spread.
"Ishmael Mehemoh, chief supervisor at the Kenema clinic in eastern Sierra Leone, said the facility has only one broken stretcher, which is used to carry both patients and corpses, raising the risk of infection."

This is only one example of many showing how under-equipped and overcrowded the the medical facilities that are trying to deal with the ebola outbreak are.
So, for my birthday this year, instead of gifts or money, I would like to ask my friends, family, and anyone else who wants to help to please donate to this fundraiser in order to bring humanitarian aid to those countries and people affected by this horrible epidemic. The money will be given to Americares, "a non-profit emergency response and global health organization" (http://www.americares.org/who-we-are). This amazing organization is able to provide an astounding $20 in aid for every $1 donated, so no donation will go unnoticed!
Thank you for your support to help stop ebola!!!
