Thank you Barbara! $20 = 100 meals for hungry kids! I'm walking 19 miles TOMORROW. Please support my efforts by making a donation today.

I'm joining 4others and people from our community in walking 19 miles on March 19!
I'm really excited... and while I've done things like this before (Badwater for Good Water Walk), this one will be more challenging. Partly because it's the longest I've ever walked - 19 miles - and partly because I have a busted hip. I tore a muscle in my right hip a couple of months ago. Since then, I haven't been able to walk more than a mile without limping. I recently started physical therapy. I'm pretty confident that I can walk the 19 miles... the question is just whether or not I'll be doing it in major pain. But this cause is SO worth it!
Through the upcoming Food 4others Packing Event (www.food4others.org), we have the opportunity to provide a minimum of 100,000 meals to severely malnourished children around the world.
As part of the fundraising efforts, I'm committing to walk 19 miles on March 19. Why 19? To raise awareness that as little as 19 cents can feed a child! Will you support me in this by donating to our cause? 100 percent of the funds raised will go directly to covering the cost of meals we pack on April 29-30, benefitting children in places such as Haiti, the Philippines, and Zimbabwe. (The last 3 images show the meals we'll pack. Each bag can feed 6 children and cost a little over $1.)
To participate in this, I'm expected to raise $361, which is the equivalent of asking 19 people for $19. But personally, I've raised my goal to cover the cost of 5,000 meals! A little crazy... but hey, you can't expect big results without big goals! :)
Every day, 18,000 children die from hunger-related causes. Children like Omar from El Savador, who, at age 8, was no bigger than an average 10 month old American child. He weighed only 19 pounds and was close to death when he began eating just one meal a day (provided by FMSC). Not only did it immediately save him from death, but after only 6 months of eating this food, Omar developed into a healthy 73 lb. boy. The cost to save his life and bring him to this point was only $35.
Children like Omar can survive because of the generosity of donors like you. The cost for just one meal is 19 cents. 19 cents multiplied by 100,000 meals equals $19,000 that we need to raise.
Thank you for helping us fight child hunger!
