BENEFITING: EMPOWER SPINAL CORD INJURY INCORPORATED
EVENT DATE: May 24, 2015
Two years ago I took on the feat with my Co-Founder's brother Casey Callahan, of running 100 miles for Empower; this online fundraiser raised up to $5000 for the 2013 Empower SCI Summer Program. This year, Empower SCI has decided to use running as a fundraiser again! Empower takes on the Vermont City Marathon relay! Over Memorial Day I will be splitting 26.2 miles with 4 other Empower SCI dedicated volunteers. As some of you may know, this race is near to my heart as Vermont is my home state and Burlington was my home for 6 years. I'm excited to share this beautiful state and city with my Empower SCI family and expose my favorite state to the Empower SCI Mission!
For those of you that do not know, and need to be brought up to speed, Empower SCI, Inc., is a non-profit organization established in 2011 by myself, Carrie Callahan and Elizabeth Lima Remillard. Empower SCI's Mission is to enable individuals with spinal cord injuries to lead happier, more meaningful and more independent lives. Empower SCI seeks to fill the gap in the rehabilitation industry that has been created by a decrease in length of stays at rehabilitation hospitals and outpatient services during the recovery from a spinal cord injury. Empower SCI runs a two-week Residential Rehabilitation Program in Long Island, NY, as well as Wheelchair Skills Clinics for all wheelchair users within the community.
Please help Empower SCI raise funds and awareness for the Vermont City Marathon!
