BENEFITING: Action for Healthy Kids, Inc.
EVENT DATE: Dec 31, 2011
In 2011, I plan on running, biking, swimming, climbing, or hiking over 3,000 miles to support the Action for Healthy Kids organization that focuses on working with schools, parents, students, professionals, volunteers and others to improve nutrition and physical activity in our schools and help kids learn lifelong habits to be healthy and be better prepared to be successful in school and life.
Our country is fat and getting fatter. The worst part about obesity is the damage that it does to our nation's health. Most all diseases and major medical problems have a direct link to obesity. This organization is seeking to fix a lot of that by starting with our youth. How can you not support that? This is also a top rated charity with over 88% of all donations going directly into programs to make kids healthy.
Please consider donating at least $0.01 per mile I'll run ($10) and let's do something to make a difference in the next generations lives.
I will be updating every couple of week and also donating $0.25/mile (up to $750).
What I'd like to see YOU do is join my team, set yourself a goal and work to acheive it. You don't have to donate any money to make a difference. The more that children (yours and others) see active adults and people out and about in the neighborhood exercising the more they are motivated to make healthy choices.
If you join my team, and set yourself a goal to meet this year, I will donate $0.01 for every mile YOU run too.
So, stop thinking about it and just do it.
