Everyday I listen to the stories of people who have been diagnosed with cancer. Admittedly, it is hard at times, but most importantly rewarding and inspiring. So much so, that I want to run the 2011 ING NYC Marathon in honor of all people that I have seen in the past few years.
While I see my sessions as an important contribution, I also recognize that one hour a week is hardly enough to address all the difficult issues that arise from living with cancer. For this reason, I feel strongly that cancer survivors should have access to the comprehensive support that they need. Gilda's Club is AMAZING in that it offers up a wide number of fun, educational, therapuetic, and social opportunities! What's even more impressive is that this is all done for FREE!
There's no doubt that this marathon will be a huge physical challenge for me, but I plan to take my strength from knowing that the monies raised for Gilda's Club will go directly towards helping cancer survivors and their famililes!
