New friends hear me talk about running a lot, but old friends and family members remember my days as a swimmer. From the ages of 6 to 18, I swam competitively on a variety of levels and was in the pool at least 4 days a week.
I'm so grateful that my parents made learning how to swim a priority. I spent the first few years of my life near the beach, which made learning how to swim even more important. Swimming is a fundamental skill that can save lives, and Swim Free provides that skill and helps both children and adults become more comfortable in the water.
After a 6-year hiatus from the pool, I completed my first sprint triathlon in July 2011. With the Swim Free team, I'll be swimming 1500m in the Hudson River, biking 40K along the West Side Highway and running 6.2 miles through Central Park on July 8, 2012.
