Run for the Fallen is an annual event held on July 28 in central Connecticut, in honor of soldiers who have died in service of the US. Featuring both a 60-km road race with full police escort and an option to walk or run around a track at the finish, the race beings in Crystal Lake, CT and ends at Glastonbury High School's track in Glastonbury, CT.
This year, a dedicated group of Team ClearWater runners will tackle various portions of the 60-km race while others loop around Glastonbury's track in anticipation of the road racers' arrival into the stadium. The Run for the Fallen is especially meaningful to ClearWater as our founder, Captain Benjamin Sklaver, lost his life while serving in a civil affairs unit in Afghanistan in 2009.
Since Ben’s death, we have worked to fulfill his vision of compassion and hope for those whose lives are challenged by strife and uncertainty. Our goal has remained the same as his: to bring water and, ultimately, health and opportunity to those far less fortunate than we are, and in doing this, we have facilitated access to clean water for over 13,000 people.
ClearWater Initiative is dedicated to promoting simple, sustainable solutions for the provision of clean water to populations in need. We fund both established and innovative clean water solutions, such as borehole repairs, protected springs and well drilling, with an emphasis on community mobilization and training. ClearWater currently operates in northern Uganda.
