BENEFITING: The Hall STEPS Foundation
ORGANIZER: The Hall STEPS Foundation
EVENT DATE: Nov 03, 2013
For the fourth year in a row, I have the joy of doing something that I love (running) and the privilege of doing it for a cause that I care deeply about (assisting those in need). On November 3, I plan to tour 26.2 miles of New York’s five boroughs as one of the many runners participating in the New York City Marathon.
Once again, I will be partnering with The Hall STEPS Foundation (http://thestepsfoundation.org/), a nonprofit organization that two of my college friends started with the goal of ending global poverty and improving health worldwide. With money raised from the New York City Marathon, the STEPS Foundation is funding renovations for a maternity ward of a health clinic in Senegal and providing micro loans (that are repaid and reinvested) to aspiring small business owners in Kenya. The co-founders of the STEPS Foundation spent time in both Senegal and Kenya this summer and decided that these projects were a way to not just help the people in these communities but also empower them.
My goal is to raise $6,000, and I would be honored if you would consider joining me in this effort. All donations to the STEPS Foundation are tax deductible.
Thank you so much for your support!
