Dearest Friends, Family, Colleagues and Peers,
As many of you know, I was recently invited to sit on the Associate Board for OUR HOUSE - Grief Support Center. I am honored and proud to continue to be a part of an organization that provides an incredible support for those going through some of the darkest and emotional times in life. I first got a job at OUR HOUSE after I moved back to Los Angeles after many years living in San Francisco. During my years in the bay area, within 18 months of one another, I experienced the deaths of both of my parents. Working at OUR HOUSE forced me to confront my own personal grief head-on, while also opening my mind to know the incredible support and community it offers. The support groups at OUR HOUSE help build and connect community, allowing each person who walks through its doors the ability to open their heart and mind. Knowing it is o.k. to talk about death and find a path for healing is something every grieving person needs.
The April 28th Run For Hope is an almost 5k run/walk held outside the OUR HOUSE offices in West L.A. It provides an opportunity for grieving children and adults to celebrate their loved ones' memories and to promote hope. I have pledged to raise $600 towards this cause.
I've chosen to create two mile-markers along the route to provide inspiration and comfort to those participating:
1. I am smart because you challenged me, I am strong because you believed in me.
2. I am complete because I know you loved me.
I hope I can count on your support!
