BENEFITING: The Dempster Family Foundation
MLB Pitcher, Ryan Dempster’s Strike Out Challenge Supports Research for 22q11.2 Deletion Syndrome at the UC Davis MIND Institute. Dempster's daughter Riley was diagnosed at birth with this little known syndrome that's more common than you'd think.
For each win that Ryan records during the 2013 regular season, $1,000 will be granted to the MIND Institute’s 22q Healthy Minds Clinic. And it gets better! For every strike out that Ryan records, $100 will be granted towards the clinic’s work. As of October 1st Ryan has donated $23,900 to The 22q Healthy Minds Clinic at UC Davis’ MIND Institute.
In the game of baseball, the goal is to score more runs than your opponent. But at the Dempster Family Foundation, the goal is to record more wins and strikeouts in support of 22q research through DFF’s Strike Out Challenge. Specifically, we’re rooting for Ryan to record those wins and strikeouts so that the University of California – Davis’ MIND Institute can continue the research they are conducting in their 22q Healthy Minds Clinic.
Parents who bring their child to the clinic have the opportunity to receive a detailed clinical evaluation, completed by a developmental and behavioral pediatrician, licensed psychologist with expertise in developmental clinical neuropsychology and, where appropriate, child and adolescent psychiatrist. Each of these clinical experts in 22q complete an evaluation, consult together as an interdisciplinary team and provide parents with not only results, but individualized recommendations for support and intervention.
YOU can join Ryan in supporting this important research by making a financial contribution to support this year’s Strike Out Challenge and Donate Now!
