BENEFITING: ONE-REVOLUTION FOUNDATION
EVENT DATE: Sep 01, 2013
This fall, One Revolution Foundation is launching the 2013 Who’s Your Hero Tour on the West Coast, making presentations to schools VA hospitals and other facilities along the route to further our mission to change perceptions of disability and inspire the choice to live fully. The tour will highlight the universal experience of challenge. Our philanthropic cycling team expects to travel from community to community throughout the more than 1,400-miles from Seattle to San Diego in search of stories of resilience and integrity.
“Youth today need heroes,” said resilience educator Donna Volpitta, Ed.D. who helped Waddell develop the Nametags program. “They need stories of resilience and integrity to guide them as they navigate the difficult terrain of childhood,” she continued. The 2013 Who’s Your Hero Tour is designed to highlight heroes—people who have made choices to stand up for what they believe and have demonstrated strength as they were confronted with struggle.
“Heroes are an integral party of community, and community contributes to resilience,” said Waddell, “No matter who we are, we will face challenges and adversity. Our youth need to understand that when they face challenge, they have choices about how they respond.” The public is invited share individual stories of resilience and integrity, which may be highlighted along the journey. Stories may be submitted to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
