When a devastating disaster strikes Red Cross workers and volunteers are at the ready to respond with relief, support and compassion. They are able to do this because financial donations from generous people right here in this community provide the means to stock supplies, replenish goods and ensure that Red Cross Emergency Response Vehicles are maintained and ready to respond.
Red Cross Staff and Volunteers turn to our community and ask for a generous monetary donation. No matter how large or small the gift, you can rest assured that 91 cents of every donated dollar will be used on direct humanitarian aid.
Last year, over 100 victims of local disasters-- house fires, floods, and storms--were given shelter, food, comfort and mental health counseling. Through it all, the Red Cross was on the scene, providing a safe place to stay, food to eat and supplies to help with the clean-up. Generous donations made this possible.
I am not sure you know, but the Red Cross is not a government agency; they count on donations to do their good work and 91 cents of every dollar given to Red Cross is invested in humanitarian services and programs. I am asking you to join me by making a generous donation to the American Red Cross, providing the means to continue their efforts.
In the last year The American Red Cross Greater Long Beach/ Rio Hondo Chapter responded to local disasters, providing food and shelter to those displaced by home fires, or floods. All of this would not be possible without donations from our community.
