LOS ANGELES COUNTY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION via Crowdrise
September 09, 2014
Since 1997 the CDF has awarded over $200,000 in HAR Scholarships to low-income students living in Section 8 or Public Housing and attending a university, community college, or vocational training program. HAR Scholarships comes at a time when college tuition is steadily rising and over the past 30 years has actually increased more than 4 times the rate of the Consumer Price Index.
CDF recognizes that college success is not solely dependent upon financial ability, thus HAR Scholarship awardees are matched with mentors that are college graduates and employed or self-employed. Over the past 17 years, our scholarship awardees have not only graduated from college, but have gone on to successfully become lawyers, doctors, nurses, scientist, graphic designers, among other professions.
We need your help! To continue our legacy of ending generational poverty, please join Southern California Edison and many other individual donors by making a tax deductible donation toward the HAR Scholarship Fund today. The 2014 HAR Scholarship Awards will be made Tuesday, August 12th at the California Endowment (1000 N. Alameda St, Los Angeles, CA 90012) as part of the Reality Check Conference. Special recognition will be given to donors:
