BENEFITING: THE IRONMAN FOUNDATION
ORGANIZER: THE IRONMAN FOUNDATION
EVENT: IRONMAN Race for Free 2014
Hello friends! I am racing in my first Ironman in August, and rather than paying my full registration fee, I have decided to raise money to donate to various charities through the Ironman Foundation. There are a few reasons I have decided to take this route. If I were to simply pay my registration fee, I would simply be benefitting myself and my own dreams. With this program, I am able to take that same drive to donate and contribute not only to MY goals, but towards those of so many others.
I have agreed to raise at least $3000, which, as I mentioned earlier, will be put towards multiple charities in Louisville, the location of this Ironman. The prospect of giving back to the city who will be helping me and many other achieve our dreams is very exciting to me, and has made me question why I haven't been raising money for charities for all the races I have done. If successful in this endeavor, I plan on using every race I participate in in the future to raise money towards various charities.
Thank you first of all for taking the time to visit my site. Any donation of any amount is greatly appreciated. If you are looking for more information on the Ironman Foundation, continue reading below.
The IRONMAN Foundation was established in 2003 as a way for IRONMAN to leave a little piece of legacy behind in communities where we hold our IRONMAN events. The mission of the Foundation is: to leave IRONMAN’s legacy through philanthropy, voluntarism, and grant making; by supporting various athletic, community, education, health, human services, and public benefit non-profits organizations around the world.
$18 Million: Amount in grants and donations The IRONMAN Foundation has provided to global, national, regional and local nonprofits since its inception in 2003.
$100,000: Amount provided to capital improvement projects and nonprofit groups in The Woodlands community in 2012.
Athletes have the opportunity to fundraise for The IRONMAN Foundation through the “RACE FOR FREE” program. With this initiative, athletes can obtain a free race entry, along with other incentives, by reaching fundraising benchmarks. Athletes who sign up for this program are required to raise $3,000 for The IRONMAN Foundation. All funds will benefit The IRONMAN Foundation and their effort to leave a lasting impact in the communities in which IRONMAN events are held.
