On May 3rd of 2014, I will be taking on a special physical challenge called Rock The Ridge in the awesome Shawangunk Mountains of the Hudson Valley in New York. Rock The Ridge is a 50-mile footrace, and the goal is to complete the distance in 24 hours or less. In conjunction with my participation in the event, I am raising money to help support the Mohonk Preserve, an 8,000-acre parcel of breathtaking land that is essentially the centerpiece of “The ‘Gunks.”
Beyond the beauty of its cliffs, forests, fields, and streams, the Mohonk Preserve is a leader in environmental education, conservation science, land protection and stewardship, and annually provides over 150,000 visitors with the opportunity to care for, enjoy, and explore the natural world.
Nature not only sustains us all in the physical sense, providing us with clean water to drink and oxygen to breathe, but it is also essential to the health and welfare of the human spirit. I will embrace this spirit as I traverse the picturesque carriage roads of the Rock The Ridge course.
My goal is to raise $500 for the Preserve, and with your help, I know I can reach and even surpass that goal. Whatever you can afford, whatever you are moved to contribute, will be gratefully received. Here is the link to my Rock The Ridge fundraiser: My fundraiser. Please contribute whatever you can, and feel free to contact me with any questions about this terrific event.
