THE STORY:

As a fellow resident, you know the struggles our friends and neighbors often face. Many children don’t know where their next meal will come from. Students and schools struggle to meet state standards. Adults live with chronic diseases that threaten their quality of life – which for many had they had early, intensive intervention could have been prevented.

Since 1920, your Y has been working to effect lasting change in St. Petersburg’s most vulnerable populations in the areas of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. With specific goals that include:

● Breaking the cycle of general poverty for at-risk children and families through academic enhancement and financial literacy programs

● Combating racial and income disparities in the areas of health and drowning through prevention and education programs

● Reducing the overall incidence of preventable chronic disease in our community through evidence based intensive intervention programs developed with national health partners at the NIH and CDC

Your Y is doing so much more than most would ever imagine. And we need your help

Pictured to the left are just a few of the families that benefitied from our annual campaign last year. Last year, your Y distributed over $800,000 in scholarship support for programs ranging from intensive chronic disease prevention to youth sports, in addition to countless programs and events offered to the community free or at a reduced cost.

Join the Y Youth Sports Team as we work together to raise support for our Y - so that everyone regardless of their circumstance has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive!
