BENEFITING: THE IRONMAN FOUNDATION
ORGANIZER: THE IRONMAN FOUNDATION
EVENT: TEAM IMF
EVENT DATE: Oct 11, 2015
Never in my life did I see myself doing something that most people would call insane. To be honest I think that is why I started my journey towards this goal last year. I started doing a few small races and instead of progressing through some of the longer distance races I decided to go all in and here we are.
This will absolutely be the hardest thing I will do in my life so far. All-in-all it's a 140.6 miles that inclues a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, and finishes off with a full marathon. Mentally, physically, and emotionally it is going to be amazingly difficult, but when I cross the finish line I know it will all be worth it.
I will be headed to Louisville on October 11 and I am going to be competing with Team IMF (Ironman Foundation). I (along with others) will be raising money for non-profits in the Louisville area and it gives an opportunity to give back to the community that is going to host the event.
This website was set up by the foundation for me to try to raise funds for that great cause. I am sure you will get sick of me talking about it but my goal is to raise $3,000 for Team IMF. If you all could, please consider donating. It doesn't matter how much, whether it's a dollar or $10 or $20 or $100 becaue every dollar counts and every dollar goes towards the goal not only to help some great organizations but also helps motivate me to conquor this challenge.
I want to thank all of you ahead of time. I have been training for many months already and know it is going to be extremely difficult and the support I will have from my friends and family is going to be a big driving factor in this journey I am taking to become an Ironman.
For a bunch more information on all this you can check out my website where I wrote many words about it: http://www.threeriversburghblog.com/2015/02/still-here-and-bloggin-help-support.html
Here is a little more information on IMF...

All money raised through the TEAM IMF program will benefit The IRONMAN Foundation, and specifically - the Community Fund Program. This program benefits those in the communities where IRONMAN events are held, by providing charitable support to a variety of local non-profit organizations that recognize citizens in need and provide support to the local community. Within those communities,
The IRONMAN Foundation will provide grant funding opportunities to non-profit organizations, while also working with community leaders to identify projects that will benefit the community and provide funding to support those initiatives. The IRONMAN Foundation has provided funding opportunities of nearly
twenty nine million dollars to numerous non-profit beneficiaries worldwide.
