I am riding in memory of two very special women (they were sisters):
My mother, Ellie Martino – she died of lung cancer in February of 1998 at the age of 62. She would have been 80 on April 21st . I have missed having her in my life to share important milestones with. She was well known for her warm, welcoming personality, her great sense of humor, and her love of country music & cardboard cutout figures (growing up, family parties were always quite interesting!) She touched the lives of so many people, and I miss her fun spirit and unconditional love every single day.
My aunt, Norma Gear – she lost a lengthy battle with breast cancer in January of 2012 at the age of 70 . She was so much more than an aunt to me. She was a dear friend, and someone I looked up to my entire life. She helped to fill a significant void in my life after I lost my Mom, and I will always be grateful for this. She was, by far, the strongest woman I will ever know.
I'm truly honored to ride these 192 miles in their memory and I hope you will consider supporting me.
