BENEFITING: THE IRONMAN FOUNDATION
ORGANIZER: THE IRONMAN FOUNDATION
EVENT: TEAM IMF
EVENT DATE: Nov 15, 2015
In the Fall of 2010 I stood on the sidelines of Ironman Arizona waiting for my brother Wes to finish his first Ironman. There was something magical about standing at the finishline and seeing all the athletes come in one by one, almost ALL with tears in their eyes. Tears of joy knowing how hard it took to get to that moment and how that moment was finally paying off. Here I was, new mom confused, sad, and battling my own emotions about motherhood. I longed to have that feeling of joy that each and every one of those athletes were feeling. It was then that I made a commitment to sign up and train for a triathlon.
I trained hard and when I felt like giving up I pictured my kids waiting for me at the finishline. I did complete my first triathlon and experienced that rush of emotions that I had longed for. Having my family with me meant everything to me. Something else happened with all the training I was doing-I was happy and felt pure joy. As long as I trained everyday, I finally felt like myself again.
So people ask me what I train for and I tell them, "I train for life."
Training for triathlons makes me a better person and more importantly a better Mom to my kids.
So here we are almost 5 years later. Once again I will have a chance to feel the energy and experience the magic that surrounds Ironman Arizona! But this time I get to participate. I hope to hear those famous words: "Amanda Remlinger YOU ARE AN IRONMAN!"
In an effort to keep my journey even more special and dear to my heart, I am teaming up and raising money for The Ironman Foundation.
All money raised through the TEAM IMF program will benefit The IRONMAN Foundation, and specifically - the Community Fund Program. This program benefits those in the communities where IRONMAN events are held, by providing charitable support to a variety of local non-profit organizations.
In a nutshell all the money I raise will go RIGHT BACK INTO THE communities near Tempe, Phoenix and surrounding areas. This could be organizations like: Make A Wish Arizona, Best Buddies Arizona, Boy Scouts of AZ, Challenged Athletes Foundation or the Tempe Fire Medical Rescue Department.
So would you consider supporting me? I'll be racing 140.6 miles. How about a dollar for every mile? Or even 50 cents per mile?
Thank you very much for your support. You can also follow my training journey via my blog: www.momwhotris.com
On November 15, 2015 I will be thinking of YOU.
