EVENT DATE: Nov 15, 2015
Many people wonder what it takes to become an Ironman athlete. What does it take to swim 2.4 miles, bike 112 miles and then run a marathon, 26.2 miles? All within 17 hours. What does it take? Well it takes people like you, people like me and a community that embraces individuals that want to test the limits of what is possible. It takes support from one's family, encouragement from fellow athletes, guidance from an experienced coach and faith, discipline and desire from the athlete. I am that athlete - I am an Ironman.
This fall, in November, I will be competing in my 3rd Ironman triathlon in Arizona. Ironman has become a shared passion for my family. My wife is a multiple Ironman finisher and our daughter has not only raced a triathlon, but become our biggest fan! Ironman and triathlon has become a permanent part of our lives and as Ironman Arizona will be my second time racing this course, I want this race to be for a purpose bigger than just me. I want this Ironman to support and give back to a sport and community that has given me and my family a foundation of fitness, faith and amazing friends.
I will be racing with the Ironman Foundation Team and raising money to support charities in our community. All money raised through the TEAM IMF program will benefit The IRONMAN Foundation, and specifically - the Community Fund Program. This program benefits those in the communities where IRONMAN events are held, by providing charitable support to a variety of local non-profit organizations that recognize citizens in need and provide support to the local community.
The IRONMAN Foundation will provide grant funding opportunities to non-profit organizations, while also working with community leaders to identify projects that will benefit the community and provide funding to support those initiatives. Arizona donations have included; the American Heart Association, Angels on Patrol, Best Buddies, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Chances for Children, Make A Wish, Native American Connections, Phoenix Performing Arts Center, Not My Kid, Smile Train Inc., United Food Bank and the Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS just to name a few! Worldwide, The IRONMAN Foundation has provided funding opportunities of nearly $30,000,000 to numerous non-profit beneficiaries.
It is my goal to raise over $5,000 by this November. I hope that you will help support me in my passion for this amazing sport, but far more importantly, the charities in our community that we share with others.
Thank you so much - no donation is too small and I appreciate just the time you have spent allowing me to share my Ironman dream with you.
