BENEFITING: THE IRONMAN FOUNDATION
ORGANIZER: THE IRONMAN FOUNDATION
EVENT: TEAM IMF
EVENT DATE: Nov 15, 2015
I have been doing Triathlons for over 30 years. I never thought it would be possible for me to do a full Ironman. I thought it was crazy. Two years ago I watched my wife, Janet, and her friend, Sarah, leap across the finishline of their first Ironman in Canada with smiles on their faces. I was so proud of them. I then proceeded to watch for the next couple of hours as so many finished all with smiles on their faces.
I started to question whether it would be possible for me to be one of those people. Was I too old and too slow to make the time? The answer was probably but after much thought I decided it was now or never. I did my first olympic triahtlon at age 40 and my first half Ironman at age 60 and now have set my goal to do my first full ironman at age 70. I have convinced my mind that I can do it and now I need to convince my body.
I signed up for Ironman Arizona with a commitment to raise $3,000 for The Ironman Foundation because it helps local non-profits.
All money raised through the TEAM IMF program will benefit The IRONMAN Foundation, and specifically - the Community Fund Program. This program benefits those in the communities where IRONMAN events are held, by providing charitable support to a variety of local non-profit organizations that recognize citizens in need and provide support to the local community.
Within those communities, The IRONMAN Foundation will provide grant funding opportunities to non-profit organizations, while also working with community leaders to identify projects that will benefit the community and provide funding to support those initiatives. The IRONMAN Foundation has provided funding opportunities of nearly twenty nine million dollars to numerous non-profit beneficiaries worldwide.
Thank you for considering to help me achieve my goal.
