BENEFITING: THE IRONMAN FOUNDATION
ORGANIZER: THE IRONMAN FOUNDATION
EVENT: TEAM IMF
EVENT DATE: Sep 27, 2015
The first time I said aloud, "I'm going to be an Ironman" was on August 24, 2014. I was laying in bed with my right arm in a sling (separated shoulder) and using my broken left wrist to hold an ipad with the Ironman Louisville finish line live stream. As I watched my friend and North Texas Multisport teammate cross the finish line, I nudged my husband awake and spoke the words. I think he thought I took too much pain medicine. I'd been in a serious cycyling accident the day before and here I wanted to be an Ironman.
I've thought about it off and on since then as various people inspired me to go for it. I watched as races I was interested in filled up and pushed Ironman to the back of my head. But it crept back up. So I planned to volunteer in 2015 and register for 2016. But that's so far and I want Ironman now. I submitted my name for the wait list to race Ironman Chatanooga with TEAM Ironman Foundation and I got an email that I was IN!

All money raised through the TEAM IMF program will benefit The IRONMAN Foundation, and specifically - the Community Fund Program. This program benefits those in the communities where IRONMAN events are held, by providing charitable support to a variety of local non-profit organizations that recognize citizens in need and provide support to the local community.
Within those communities, The IRONMAN Foundation will provide grant funding opportunities to non-profit organizations, while also working with community leaders to identify projects that will benefit the community and provide funding to support those initiatives. The IRONMAN Foundation has provided funding opportunities of nearly twenty nine million dollars to numerous non-profit beneficiaries worldwide.
