EVENT DATE: Nov 07, 2015
Thank you for visiting my fundraiser page. I want to take this opportunity to tell you a little about my story. I first started running in the late part of 2010 because of being only 28 years old and having to get on blood pressure meds. At the time I was 247 lbs. and was only a weight lifter trying to break a 400 lb. bench press. I came very close to my goal; however, God had other plans for me because my blood pressure shot up. I was terrified because I thought this might keep me from watching my son grow up and he was just a few months old at the time. My doctor said it was time to lose some weight so I started running. A few months later I decided I needed to train for something(Some friends kinda pushed for it). So I decided to train for a marathon and during that training I was fortunate enough to meet a few people and we became family(You guys and gals know who you are). Had it not been for the support of my family and my "running" family I would have quit while training for my first marathon. I completed my first marathon in Dallas in December 2011 and have not stopped yet. I have done 5 marathons and have been doing Triathlons for 2 years. I also have lost 60 lbs. and have been able to get off of the blood pressure meds. Now its time to try something else that I thought I would never be able to do. Make no mistake about it, it is the love and support of my family and my "running" family that keep me taking that next step.
This is the opportunity of a lifetime for me and I am very thankful for any and all help getting to my goal. My biggest goal is to make my family proud and be able to call myself an IRONMAN!!! I hope that one day my sons will look at old pictures and will be proud and inspired to always take that next step and always give it their best. Thank you all so much for your support, I cannot do it without you, and you will all be with me in one way or another when I cross that finishline.
Also, and most of all, I have to thank my Beautiful Wife Sarah. She has always been there to encourage me and never gets upset when I'm late for dinner or waking her up way before daylight to go train. She is truly a blessing and deserves the most credit for all the time she has given up to allow me to accomplish these goals. She will be a driving force to keep me going in this race because I could not do any of this without her. I hope to make her as proud of me as I am of her.
