EVENT: TEAM IMF
EVENT DATE: Sep 13, 2015
Throughout my childhood and young adult life, I had always been overweight. However, in late high school and my early college years I reached a size that was not only my largest, but it was also a size in which I promised myself I would never go past. Slowly, but surely, I made strides at the gym and committed to eating in a way that fueled my body. With that change, I began seeing the results I desired.
Over the next four years, fitness became my hobby. I felt better about how I looked and going to the gym was something I genuinely enjoyed doing in my free time. I never really considered doing races or competitions until a girl named Hannah came along and convinced me to do a 5 mile turkey trot on Thanksgiving morning of 2012. Shortly after that, I competed in my first triathlon in April 2013 alongside Hannah’s brother-in-law, Dan, and as they say, the rest is history (along with the 70 pounds I lost!).
In 2014, I’ve competed in one duathlon, one half marathon, six sprint triathlons and a handful of other small races along the way. Dan has been by my side for many of these and will join me in competing in the IRONMAN Madison as well. Although I intend for my journey in health and fitness to be a lifelong pursuit, crossing the finish line at IRONMAN Madison in 2015 is goal beyond my wildest dreams.
I am humbly requesting your support in my dream of crossing the finish line. Financial support is most appreciated, but your thoughts and prayers throughout my training over the next year mean just as much.
I will be sending out update letters to contributors from now until next September. You can also follow mine and Dan’s journey to the IRONMAN on
