BENEFITING: Brigham and Women's Hospital
ORGANIZER: Brigham and Women's Hospital
EVENT DATE: Oct 04, 2015
We are running in the Maine Marathon on October 4th to raise money for The John and Josephine Marr Alzheimer's Foundation. We are asking for your support with this effort.
Our grandmother, Josephine aka Penie was diagnosed with Alzheimer's several years ago and is nowin the late stages of this disease. The fund is the genesis of our grandfather, John Marr, who is his wife's primary care-giver. In the face of this horrible disease, he has shown incredible devotion and strength. Not only has he committed his life to keeping his wife comfortable with her dignity ensured, he carefully sought out the most promising Alzheimer's research effort in hopes to spare the next generations from thishorrible disease. In this search he found Dr. Reisa Sperling and Dr. Dennis Selkoe of Brigham and Women's Hospital.
They have made great strides and their end goal is to diagnose and then treat AD in the pre-symptomatic stages!
I hope I can count on you to support my run by contributing to this very important cause. All gifts are tax deductible and may even be eligible to be matched by your employer. If you would prefer to make an online donation, you can do so on my personal fundraising page at
Checks should be made payable to Brigham and Women’s Hospital and mailed to Anna (with her name in the memo line) at:
15 Roosevelt Ave.
Larchmont, NY 10538
Our inspiration, as we train, comes from watching my grandfather deal so courageously and lovingly with his wife's illness. His example has generated a call to action within the family and to friends bringing us together in this effort of hope and optimism.
We believe in this cause and we have great faith that one day Penie's fate, and millions of other's struck with Alzheimer's, will be a thing of the past.
We encourage you to click on the link I provide below to learn more about the research and the cause.
From the bottom of our hearts, we are grateful for your support.
