BENEFITING: THE IRONMAN FOUNDATION
ORGANIZER: THE IRONMAN FOUNDATION
EVENT: TEAM IMF
EVENT DATE: Oct 03, 2015
It's been over a year since I raced a triathlon due to injury. So what better way to get back into it than signing up for an Ironman! Well how about signing up for one that you can raise money for? Help me support TEAM IMF and watch me brutalize myself in yet another quest for crossing a finishing line hopefully faster than the 14hrs and 19mins I did it in last time.
On October 3rd, 2015, I will be participating in the 2nd annual Ironman Maryland. The race consists of a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike and a marathon (140.6 miles total) all of which is to be completed in less than 17 hours. It will require every ounce of physical fortitude and mental toughness to complete.
As a way of giving back and for extra incentive to keep me motivated during my training, I have asked friends & family to guess my race finish time for a chance to win one of several prizes in exchange for a donation to the Ironman Foundation. These include a dinner for 2 at www.alurenorthfork.com or www.amanorestaurant.com and lots of other goodies.
If you donate $10 I will send you a signed picture of my sunburn from race weekend. If you donate $20 you receive a picture of my blisters and sunburn from race weekend. A donation of $50 gets you a PINOT NOIR, CAVIAR shirt, $100 gets you prime advertising space on my tri suit, $200 gets you a dinner party for 4 cooked by me, $500 gets you a signed print of my naked butt taken by Oriel Pe'er!
All money raised through the TEAM IMF program will benefit The IRONMAN Foundation, and specifically - the Community Fund Program. This program benefits those in the communities where IRONMAN events are held, by providing charitable support to a variety of local non-profit organizations that recognize citizens in need and provide support to the local community.
Within those communities, The IRONMAN Foundation will provide grant funding opportunities to non-profit organizations, while also working with community leaders to identify projects that will benefit the community and provide funding to support those initiatives. The IRONMAN Foundation has provided funding opportunities of nearly twenty nine million dollars to numerous non-profit beneficiaries worldwide.
Just a few quick facts about The IRONMAN Foundation - Started in 2003
Mission: “To leave IRONMAN’s legacy through philanthropy, volunteerism, and grant making by supporting various athletic, community education, health, human services, and public benefit nonprofit organizations around the world.”
Purpose: To leave a lasting impact in the race communities where our IRONMAN events are held. The Foundation works with community leaders to help fund local initiatives, as well as give back to the nonprofit organizations that have a volunteerism component. Through these projects, the Foundation leaves a piece of the IRONMAN legacy behind after race day and establishes a stronger relationship with our race communities.
Directly supports 53 race communities in North America
Nearly 1,000 grants ($1.2 MILLION) in 2014
Please consider partnering with me by donating to TEAMIMF and their worthy causes. My goal is to raise $25 for every mile of the 140.6 mile long Ironman race ($3515 total). Together, we can make this happen!
