BENEFITING: The Ryan Shuck Foundation
ORGANIZER: THE IRONMAN FOUNDATION
EVENT: YOUR JOURNEY, YOUR CAUSE
Ryan Shuck was the inspiration in starting Running for Ryan, which was created in 2011 to raise awareness for individuals with physical disabilities, and to help build the confidence and character of America's disabled youth. Ryan was injured in an auto accident at the age of 18 months. With a unique injury that resembled cerebral palsy and paraplegia, he was faced with a number of physical challenges. Ryan did not let a disability define the way he would live his life; instead, he chose to embrace his inner-self and defeat his own odds. With one functioning arm and leg, he accomplished playing baseball, driving a car, graduating from college, and living on his own. He was a hero to his friends and family, a staple to his community and will go on to be the reason that so many physically disabled individuals will lead similar lives of pride and self worth.

As you test your endurance and dedication in one of the most challenging days of your life, why not add to your race experience and make your race one for the greater good. Make your journey to become an IRONMAN a race for a cause that you are passionate about.
Through The IRONMAN® Foundation's Your Journey, Your CauseTM program, athletes will have the opportunity to identify a non-profit beneficiary as part of their journey to become an IRONMAN and race for a cause. The IRONMAN Foundation has established a fundraising program that will provide athletes with all of the tools necessary to enable fundraising efforts while supporting the mission of their organization. Athletes can choose any non-profit organization as the beneficiary of their fundraising efforts.
