Pittsburgh Urban Christian School wrote -

“Picking Up with PUCS,” is Pittsburgh Urban Christian School's environmental clean up day that helps our community and raises money for scholarships and to help our school grow. This year, more than half of our students received financial aid totalling $282,000, made possible through generous donors.

Our school is located in the watershed of Nine Mile Run Creek. Trash from city streets gets washed into it. As part of the clean up, PUCS students and adult volunteers pick up a 32 block area around the Wilkinsburg part of Pittsburgh. As a result of the efforts of PUCS and others, the cleaner creek is attracting birds, fish and other creatures to its habitat.
