About Rainbow Build
This spring, Habitat for Humanity of Washington, D.C. (DC Habitat) is teaming once again up with the LGBTQ community of DC in our first ever Rainbow Build event.
We’ll be holding several volunteer build days in May specifically for LGBTQ groups to participate, a special Saturday build day, a happy hour event, and a fundraising campaign (this campaign!).
The purpose of this event is to bring groups together to build on a Habitat home, and to raise awareness on the issue of affordable housing in the District.
Why is this important?
Affordable housing is an issue that affects everyone. DC Habitat believes that everyone deserves a decent place to live, and we’re working to make this a reality in the District. We recognize the complex relationship between the issues of affordable housing and LGBTQ rights, and we’d like to raise awareness for these topics. Through Rainbow Build, we can create a platform for discussion and a lasting partnership towards sustainable change and improvement.
